A Hard Fought Freedom: The Liberation of Mosul

During the liberation of Mosul a zoo was discovered. Most of the animals had died in the fighting or starved to death when the owner abandoned the facility. All that remained alive were a male lion named Simba and a female brown bear. The animals were rescued by a team from Four Paws International, an animal rescue organization. Mar. 30, 2017.
